Course Description

The critical path in the project network helps project managers figure out where to focus attention. If your project is running late, you may need to accelerate some parts of it to bring it back on track. In this lesson, you will work with the critical path and the critical sequence and consider their implications for schedule monitoring and control. You will look at methods of realigning available resources to work on the critical path. You will also explore some mechanisms for accelerating or compressing a schedule for a project running late. Finally, you will access a helpful tool to guide your teamwork and management conversations and to help you determine whether fast-tracking or crashing are appropriate strategies for your project.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Determine how to use the concept of a "critical path" to identify where to focus your attention most closely
