Course Description

If you've ever dined in a restaurant, you've seen a workplace that embodies elements of both groups and teams. Workers may be highly skilled and autonomous in their own areas of expertise (e.g., cooking, baking, waiting tables) but will join together as needed to execute smoothly, as is the case when several servers will collaborate to bring a large number of dishes to a table. “Group” and “team” are terms that tend to be used interchangeably, but they're not the same thing. What makes a group work well? What makes a team work well? And how does a project leader influence them both? In this lesson, you will examine some of the critical differences between groups and teams so that you can be an effective influencer with your project teams.
