Course Description

Completing a full diagnosis of a conflict sets you up to have a constructive conversation with the other party about that conflict. During that conversation, you should check your understanding of what is happening. The problem-solving process can begin in that very conversation, or it can begin later. The key is that you have the full and confirmed diagnosis as well as a set time to work with the other party to begin problem solving. In this lesson, you will explore the process of transitioning from a formal diagnosis to a process-driven approach to problem solving. You will also examine the need to complete a diagnosis before effectively beginning to solve the problem. The information you gather in the diagnosis will prove useful in scoping the issue, which you will have the opportunity to practice in an activity.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Consider the importance of adequately diagnosing a conflict before attempting to apply a problem-solving approach
