Course Description

Profitability ratios measure a company's success in generating income. These ratios tell us how effectively a company is controlling its expenses in relation to its sales, and what kind of return the company is experiencing on its asset and equity investments. In this lesson, you will explore some groups of profitability ratios including margin ratios, return on assets, and return on equity. You will practice how to calculate these ratios and use them to interpret a company's performance. You will identify gross profit margin, operating profit margin, and net profit margin as key flow through measures. You will also examine the DuPont analysis and how it pulls all these factors together.
