Course Description

Now you will have a chance to examine a classic “double bind” standard facing many women in leadership. It is considered one of the great challenges of women who hope to advance to more senior leadership positions. You will examine its ramifications and identifiy some strategies that may help to mitigate some of its negative consequences. You will also examine research that shows there's a greater risk of gender bias in ambiguous settings: when performance goals are not clearly quantified or defined, for example. Professor Streeter will also discuss three common dilemmas faced by women in leadership and you will identifiy some of her best practices for dealing with those dilemmas strategically. You will also examine some ways to think about gender stereotypes and how to check your own inadvertent application of stereotypical thinking.
