Course Description

For any given decision or prediction you make, the number of factors that could potentially impact the outcome is nearly infinite. Experience tells us that very few of these factors have any significant impact in practice. It's impractical to account for any but the most significant factors. You will begin this lesson with a question or decision and with some tentative hypotheses about what factors might impact that question or decision. You will then progress towards having a fully developed regression model that considers multiple factors and expresses each factor in terms of numerical values and statistical significance. You will also test mathematically how the independent variables might interact with one another.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Outline a regression model to help you understand in statistical terms how each identified factor relates to your intended outcome
  • Test mathematically how independent variables might interact with one another
  • Characterize the relationships of each independent variable with the dependent, or decision, variable
