Course Description

We all have the potential to bring bias to our interpretation of information that influences our decisions. When information comes from outside sources, we also need to consider the potential for bias from others. In the attempt to mitigate the effects of bias, awareness is at least half the battle. In this lesson, you will explore some common biases and consider how to account for and counteract their effects. You will increase your awareness of and sensitivity to potential bias, and consider probing questions to help uncover bias in yourself and others.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Examine how to identify and mitigate common biases
  • Expand your awareness of and sensitivity to potential biases in the decision making process
  • Access a Bias Minimization Checklist that can help you evaluate the impact of bias on your own and others’ contributions to decision making
