Course Description

Managing performance requires you to think about the overall performance objectives of your team as well as how individual team members contribute. You must be able to define and clearly communicate performance standards, and then carefully translate those standards into goals for individuals and groups within the team. In this lesson, you will practice crafting goals that meet S.M.A.R.T. criteria. You will also consider goal-setting factors that contribute to motivation, such as building autonomy into the role. By examining how to develop S.M.A.R.T. goals that support the performance standards for your team, you will set the stage for a performance-based management approach.
