Course Description

A motivational strategy that works with one person might not work with another--or with a team. Knowing your team members and what motivates them both individually and as a team can help you lead your team to exceed everyone’s--even their own--expectations. In this lesson, you will examine what motivates you and what motivates others. As you review Herzberg’s two-factor theory with Professor Walsh, you will explore intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and various factors that drive (or negate) employee satisfaction. You will also identify two jobs you supervise and outline a strategy using motivational factors to increase performance for each of those jobs.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Examine key factors that support peak performance and job enrichment
  • Explore intrinsic and extrinsic motivation as defined by Herzberg's two-factor theory of motivation
