Course Description

Human Resources classifies UN field personnel by dividing them into three subsets: general UN field staff, international recruits, and locally recruited staffers. You’ll be expected to discuss how appointment type, recruitment method, and duty station status determine an individual’s entitlements and benefits packages. Because benefits and salary structures vary among these three groups, Human Resources Managers responsible for staffing UN field missions must demonstrate proficiency in the workings of the United Nations Common System.

A large part of HR administrative and informational functions are done within the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS), so broad understanding of its capabilities and knowing how to process entitlements and salaries in this system is essential.
