Course Description

There are countless paths to making tangible, positive differences in the world through community-engaged learning (CEL), including coursework, internships, community-based research, international engagement, and student organizations. The modules in this course offer opportunities for you to explore your vision for impacting the world through the design of a CEL course or program. In each of the modules, you will discover key concepts, best practices, and various CEL resources to support your vision.

 

This course includes

  • Three modules

  • Four tools to download and use in courses or programs

  • Six activities

  • Three Ask the Expert interviews

 

What you will do

  • Identify motivations for developing a community-engaged learning (CEL) course or program

  • Contextualize and connect CEL with good citizenship

  • Describe and explore key criteria for high-quality CEL

  • Determine the purpose of a community-engaged research project and the problem it is meant to address

  • Identify community-engaged research project priorities and objectives
