Course Description

Pollinators have a critical role in ecology. Honey bees are economically important pollinators, and we rely on them for food security in the US and around the world. Like any other livestock, honey bees require good nutrition, management, and health care and can suffer from stress, infectious disease, and production failure. Colony collapse disorder is an important multifactorial problem affecting honey bees in the US and Europe, and a variety of pesticides, pollutants, and plant toxins can impact honey bee health and lead to honey contamination.
