Course Description

In this active workshop, participants will encounter challenging euthanasia scenarios and will work together to discuss possible approaches. A brief introduction will highlight the qualities that make a difficult conversation successful. In a series of facilitated discussions, participants will receive feedback from the facilitator and from their peers that improves their oral and written communication skills for these scenarios.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Develop strategies for helping clients through extreme emotions (i.e. anger, sadness) during the euthanasia process
  • Debate the utility of various approaches to ethically challenging euthanasia scenarios
  • Write a sympathy card to a client who has lost a pet
