Course Description

This session will review the biology of healing wounds in cats and dogs in the context of open wound management. Primary closure, delayed primary closure, and second intention healing will be discussed with case examples. The utility of wound cultures to direct therapy will be reviewed, together with the use of active/ passive drains and the principles/ application of negative pressure wound therapy.
