Course Description

As they say, a cat is NOT a small dog. That is so true when it comes to common ear conditions of the cat. In this session, we’ll discuss some of the differences between the cat and dog (as it relates to the ear, of course), how to manage the common infections in cats, and then discuss the 4-5 more common otic problems seen in cats, including aural polyps, cystomatosis, and neoplasia.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Describe HOW cat ears are different from dogs and why we have to manage them differently
  • List a proper treatment plan for a cat presenting with an aural hematoma or cystomatosis
  • Recognize a normal feline tympanic membrane
