Course Description

Incremental veterinary care (IVC) is a tiered and dynamic approach to patient management with limited resources. It is not a new concept in veterinary medicine. The practitioner exercises science-based judgment regarding what patient needs are most critical. The goal of IVC is to meet the patient's medical needs within the limited available financial and other resources. Consequently, managing the patient begins with an empirical assessment with progressive key science-based decision points. The use of IVC controls costs, thus keeping pets with their family and not surrendered to an animal shelter or euthanized. Utilizing an IVC approach to patient management depends on the veterinarian's skill level, experience, risk preferences, local customs, and comfort level. AlignCare establishes policies and procedures that enable the veterinarian to focus on the patient's needs while others assist with client needs. Veterinarians are trusted to make the right decisions for the patient and have the ability to plan for impacts on the business financially.
