Course Description

Parasites, lurking inside and outside of pets, owners, and homes, never cease to disgust and annoy all parties involved. Once infected, the headaches associated with treatment and permanent eradication may be enough to compel an owner to do everything possible to avoid reinfection in the future. Parasite prevention through education and proper product utilization are the keys to achieving a parasite-free existence. Every veterinarian in general practice has their go-to products that are perfectly appropriate for the majority of patients. However, the perpetual addition of new preventive products, changes to existing products, and flooding of advertisements and social media miseducation about these products make clients question their options. Veterinarians should be empowered to educate their clients about these options by understanding the ever-changing landscape of parasite prevention and the factors that may make one product more effective than another on a case-by-case basis.
