Course Description

In a service system, the rate at which customers arrive and the rate at which service is provided can vary widely in a given period. To perform useful analysis on a service process, you must first determine its "steady state." In this lesson, you will review the probability and statistics concepts used to analyze variable service processes and explore how that variability affects the efficiency of systems. You will identify three key variables in systems in service settings as well as the two processes that dictate system behavior, and you will determine the "steady state" of a service process in an organization.

Benefits to the Learner

  • Identify three key variables in systems in service settings
  • Identify the two processes that dictate system behavior
  • Determine the "steady state" for a process or system
