Course Description

Many approaches to operations management have been devised and refined over the years, dating all the way back to Scottish philosopher Adam Smith's suggestion in his 1776 book Wealth of Nations that a division of labor by tasks would increase work efficiency. One framework in particular, which emerged in the mid-twentieth century, has proved to be highly effective across industry lines: the Toyota Production System (TPS). In this lesson, you will explore the foundational principles of the highly successful and time-tested TPS approach to operations management. You will also see how the TPS principles can be applied in any industry.

Benefits to the Learner
