Course Description

In a service system, the rate at which customers arrive and the rate at which service is provided can vary widely in a given period. To perform useful analysis on a service process, you must first determine its "steady state." In this lesson, you will review the probability and statistics concepts necessary to analyze a service process where the level of demand is variable, and you will explore how that variability affects the efficiency of systems. You will identify three key variables in systems in service settings and the two processes that dictate system behavior. Finally, you will see how to determine the "steady state" of a service process.

Benefits to the Learner
