Course Description

Once an investor and an entrepreneur agree to work together, terms and conditions to solidify the investment must be agreed upon. Initially, this happens in a term sheet, which eventually becomes the basis for the closing documents needed to finalize the investment. Depending on the type of investment as well as the investor, terms can vary greatly in their complexity, and these complexities can make the closing process a challenge. In this lesson, you will assess various terms and conditions associated with different types of investments and identify the documents needed to finalize investment deals. First, you'll explore the ins and outs of term sheets and examine a reference guide to help you anticipate and critique the terms of your next deal. You will then consider what types of activities investors usually undertake during a due diligence period. You will also learn what factors to keep in mind when closing on equity and non-equity investment deals.
