Course Description

This course was developed by a joint team of national-level I-Corps instructors, regional Node contributors, and experts in equity and anti-racism training and inclusive teaching practices. It is designed to train qualified instructors to lead the I-Corps regional course developed by the Upstate New York I-Corps Node, and to do so with confidence and success. Its goals are to create a system for validating instructors' readiness to teach and to help them grow their skills, in order to create consistency in the way the regional I-Corps course is delivered by different instructors.

By completing this training, you will learn to lead teams of researchers/scientists through the regional I-Corps course. You will understand and be able to explain the course content, and learn how to provide constructive feedback. You will gain insight into a variety of effective teaching strategies, from the Socratic method to using broad feedback approaches to engage the entire room. You will also learn how to recognize and disrupt implicit bias, and to employ inclusive classroom instruction practices that can improve your ability to support underrepresented entrepreneurs. You will learn how to assess your students' readiness, and fit with the requirements, for the national I-Corps Teams program. You will also create a set of slides that highlight local entrepreneurship resources.
