Course Description

Influencing people outside your organization to do the important things required to accomplish your vision and strategy is a difficult endeavor for leaders. And in a world where instability is now the norm, the complex, time-intensive process of setting external conditions for success is ever-more challenging for today's leaders. How do you influence and gain the support of people outside of your organization whose goals and culture may be at odds with yours? It's hard enough to influence people inside your organization over whom you have some degree of direct control and share some common goals and values. In this lesson, you will examine practical ways to build a sphere of influence and gain the support of key players outside of your organization. You will gain insights about how to strengthen communication with your boss and create what he calls "unity of effort" with external partners or organizations who are outside of your direct control.
