Course Description

The growing number of self-injury cases means that front-line youth serving professionals need effective ways of responding. Cornell University’s Dr. Janis Whitlock, has created this course drawing from her own work and experience, the work of other researchers and clinicians, interviews with individuals who self-injure, and years of dialogue with youth-serving professionals and others affected by self-injury. This course will provide you with an understanding of self-injury based on research versus myths.  It will help you play a critical role in early detection and intervention and help you support the young people you serve in a way that encourages compassion and reduces fear.
