Course Description

For employment services professionals, engaging authentically with students and youth with disabilities is an essential skill. This requires that you understand how to maintain their interest, what activities or curriculums resonate with them, and what authentic engagement truly means in this context.

This course delves into the significance of genuine engagement for students and youth with disabilities, illustrating what it entails and how to achieve it. You’ll learn about developmental milestones and strategies to support the transition from youth to adulthood, including post-secondary education and employment. The course also emphasizes understanding this transition from the individual’s perspective to better meet their needs and aspirations.

Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to reflect on your personal and professional experiences, and you will have many opportunities to share your insights, resources, and tips with your cohort to enhance collective learning.
