Course Description

This course provides essential financial principles for enhancing the capacity of your farm or food business. In the first module, you'll explore how to manage your money well, along with how to apply for grants and funding opportunities. You'll also discover more about business plans and their necessity in building and creating a viable business. You'll explore concepts such as cashflow management, balance sheets, budgeting, maintaining sound bookkeeping systems and accessing relevant tax expertise.

In the second module, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the Northeast Regional Food Business Center's (NERFBC) objectives and how your grant aligns with the broader regional food system. You'll explore how to appropriately manage your grant received and build skills to receive and manage other grant funds in the future.
