Course Description

To complete a daunting task or to remind ourselves why we work at a challenging job, we summon different strengths from various sources. People work for many specific reasons, and while this gives rise to myriad motivators in the workplace, common threads exist among how people motivate themselves, how others can — or cannot — motivate them, and how people ultimately feel about their job performance. Organizations should understand some of these commonalities to get the most out of their employees and make sure they are giving them the tools they need to succeed. In this lesson, you will define motivation from a managerial perspective, describe the hierarchy of needs and explain its relevance to motivating employees, define hygiene factors, and consider the implications of motivation on the actual process of getting work done.
