Certificate Description

Want to gain the practical skills required to lead in the complex environment of labor relations? In this comprehensive certificate program, you will begin by completing a set of five online courses where you will focus on two key aspects of labor relations: negotiating an agreement (collective bargaining) and operating within an agreement (contract administration).

After completing the first portion of the program, you will engage in scheduled live virtual courses which unfold over five weeks. During interactive Zoom sessions, you will discover the critical skills required to succeed in a unionized environment. Led by seasoned professionals with decades of experience on both the management and union sides, these sessions will help you acquire the skills to develop an effective labor strategy, prepare for and participate in collective bargaining, and manage union relationships and employee performance issues, as well as handle grievances and contribute to the arbitration process. You will have the opportunity to customize your learning experience by choosing to participate in a collective bargaining simulation or diving deeper into the skills needed to manage conflict in a union environment.

Throughout the program, you will practice your skills using case-based scenarios in a small group setting. Class sizes are limited to ensure full participation and mentoring in small group activities and simulations. Please review the details of the live virtual courses for specific meeting dates and times.
