  • The world is changing by the minute and so is consumer behavior. In this session we take a dive deep into exploring the consumer. 

Business of Politics and Politics of Business

  • Glenn Altschuler
  • Glenn has been an animating force in the American Studies Program. His year-long survey of Popular Culture in the United States, 1900-Present, is one of the most popular courses at Cornell. In this session, Glenn will discuss the intersection of business and politics, in particular its impact on the country, business, and the food sector.

Food Retailer Turnaround: Supermarket Simulation

  • Bill Drake and Dan Hooker
  • Teams compete by operating a retail food company in a computerized simulation of a dynamic and competitive market. Decisions are made regarding promotional strategy, pricing, labor, procurement, inventory, and capital expenditures.

  • Please note that while the on-campus experience will begin on July 13, 2025, access to your pre-program assignments will begin on June 23, 2025. We will notify you via email when it’s time to begin the pre-work.
  • Your on-campus experience will take place at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, USA, beginning Sunday, July 13, 2025 with a welcome reception and orientation dinner. The formal program will be held July 13 -18, ending at 1:00pm on Friday, July 18.
  • All sessions will take place on the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, NY, USA. Your accommodations will be at The Statler Hotel at Cornell University. Your accommodations are included in your program fee. You are responsible for arranging for your own travel to Cornell; please see our FAQ page for useful information.
